Ingredients

Active Ingredients:

S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe): SAMe is the bioactive form of methionine, an essential amino acid nutrient found abundantly in food. SAMe is used in the body for many important metabolic functions. In pets with a compromised liver, production of SAMe is decreased. SAMe is a commonly used supplement to treat liver disease in pets as it is essential to the production of glutathione, an intracellular antioxidant.

Silybin: The most bioactive and bio-available form of Milk Thistle which is a potent antioxidant. Silybin helps to increase Glutathione levels, which acts as intracellular antioxidant, and increase Superoxide Dismutase, which is an enzyme that helps break down free radicals.

Phosphatidylcholine: a molecule which helps silybin, which is water soluble, become lipid (fat) soluble so it can cross the liver cell membrane. Helps to repair and replace liver cell membranes.

Additional Details
The term Liver Disease refers to any of the several conditions that can affect and damage a pet’s liver. Liver disease may be a primary liver problem or secondary to other underlying conditions. Signs and symptoms of liver disease in pets can vary and may include loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, weight loss, jaundice, seizures, fluid collection in the abdomen or excessive urination and thirst. The liver is the second largest organ in the body and is responsible for many vital functions. The liver metabolizes medications, removes toxins from the body, and creates many essential substances such as proteins, bile and blood-clotting factors. While the liver has a large storage capacity and is capable of regenerating, it is also susceptible to injury because of its role in metabolizing, detoxifying and storing various toxic compounds.
