Sizing Tip: Choose the size that fits the entire paw including toe nails and excluding fur. Place front paw on a blank paper, standing with full weight. Make one mark at the "heel" by aligning your pen straight down the back of the leg, and one mark at the longest toe nail. Measure the distance between the two markings and refer to the sizing chart. The strap of the boot should fall at the narrow spot on the leg, just after the paw, at the ankle/wrist.
Putting on Boots:
- Stand over your dog with dog between your legs
- Slide boot over the paw
- Ensure boot is all the way on
- Fasten boots Securely
- Tug the end of the boot
- If boot slips down it may be too large or fastened too loosely
- If boot stay in place, it is the correct size and fastened correctly
Boots that are too large may slip off or wear prematurely!
- A snug fit is best.
- The strap of the boot should fall at the narrow spot on the leg - just above the dew claw - at the ankle of the front legs.
- Breed examples are approximate guides only as paw sizes are not consistent within breeds.

We have loved Muttluks for all our dogs over the past 30 or so years but for one rescue they actually prevented us from having to put him down because of his foot problems. He had been left outside all day while his previous owners worked and was extremely malnourished. He had developed a cold induce foot issue that caused his feet to swell to the point of splitting open overnight even if only going out long enough to do his business. They would also easily get infected and needed extensive treatment and socks covering his treated feet so he would leave them alone to heal. He was a big boy so indoor pee pads etc were not really an option. I immediately got him the polar fleece lined Muttluks to put on him to go out. Once his feet healed he could play with our other dog on our property without any foot trouble. If his feet got wet, his paws Claire’s up again so boots became a year round thing. Even in summer when the grass was dry and brown it would cut between his toes and set off the swelling and infection so I got him the yellow waterproof boots. That solved the problem and allowed him to run up and down our hilly land in pure joy!
Have been putting these on my young pup for several weeks now. She balks at putting them on, but seems very happy when we come back inside and her paws are warm and dry. Not sure she's made the connection yet :) Two things: it would be much easier if there was a gore in the zipper, rather than a complete opening (I try very hard no to pull the hair when zipping them up); and how can I rough up the soles (they are now smooth and she slips a lot)? Sandpaper?
We have used the X-S size on our dog for 14 years, in Sask., Nunavut for 7 years) and had no issues o5her than he wears a set out each year. He did drop the odd one over the years, but that was our fault, you have to cinch them up so they are tight, but not over tight. We were always able to find them. We tried several different brands, but they never worked for us. Heading to the store to pick out his new pair for this winter tomorrow.
I bought this for our dog who passed away last year. He was a Havanese Shihtzu and loved snow. This is the only brand that I trusted in the harsh winter weather in Calgary,AB. It protected our dog's paws for a lot years.
Now that we adopted a new dog, I am getting one of these for him too.
Unless you have a dog on a leash, on a cleared path they are completely useless. They fall off and get lost and are way too expensive. Not fun in a Manitoba winter. Waste of money. Deserve minus stars.
