Robert Brissette was nominated by Ernst & Young for Entrepreneur of the Year 2009. He then was selected as a finalist in the 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Prairie region. This award honours the prairies’ top entrepreneurial business leaders.

When reading the above, it is no surprise that they nominated Robert Brissette, CEO and president of Petland. Since 1979, Robert and his partner/wife, Barbara, built on their initial vision of creating a pet store that was more like a zoo with open pens, healthy pets and "pet counselors" who worked closely with families to find them the right pet. They built Petland Canada into prosperous franchises and the largest full-line pet store chain in Canada. They demonstrated their flexibility by adapting to the market quickly, and surrounded themselves with the best people in their respective fields. Ernst & Young, for over 15 years, have proudly recognized Canada's top entrepreneurs with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. This program takes place in 50 countries and 135 cities across the globe.
